Hidden away on a street in Hackney, London is Two Create’s studio. Leaving the bustle of Dalston behind, the studio is set within a Victorian walled garden and entered via an unobtrusive door in the wall. The modernist space is set within the surrounding wall with the roof ‘slab’ resting on top. The internal walls have been made flush with the external brickwork and a polished concrete floor unites the internal and external space.
The brief was to design a clean space with maximum storage, based around the large glass table the team works on. The space is minimal enough to encourage clear thought yet functional enough to encompass the diversity of activities the company needs to pursue. The building is highly insulated, following the Passivhaus approach, with no need for additional heating.
The project is a result of a 6 month collaboration with Techtonic Architects. Techtonics is directed by Bernard Tulkens a former Senior Associate at David Chipperfield Architects.
